It is my experience that the discounted rates are offered again around the holidays for a limited time allowing people to upgrade at a rate that is very close to founders. So maybe just hold onto the 8 to wait it out. Keep in mind, you typically have to be canceled for 6 months before being eligible for a founders rate.
